Proud moments and progress
It is amazing how much ocean you can cover in such a short space of time.
I am drafting this on 1 October 2024 which signifies the first 6 months of developing a business from scratch. It has been an amazing experience mixed with many emotions thus far. I look forward in sharing with you my journey to success periodically.
First of all, what have we achieved, and I say “we” as I have a wonderful set of people on the Flybridge Capital Advisory Council, I also have a great support network of people who are also setting up their franchises or have done so successfully in the past. It is a wonderful ecosystem of people helping people.
Specifically, I want to thank Bill Entwistle (he is like my Charlie Munger that was to Buffett). Bill is now formally a Non-Executive Director of Flybridge Capital Pty Ltd.
From May 2024, we were fortunate to work with SFP Infrastructure Partners (Swiss headquartered) and 468 Capital (Munich headquartered) on a success-based assignment. These fund raises are ending soon, and I wish these two managers all the absolute best with these current vintages.
From an operational perspective the biggest win was the granting of our own AFSL which we received in August. It is a hefty task pulling all the documentation together and I was fortunate to use the legal services of Sophie Grace Pty Ltd who were the best to work with.
Speaking of the month of August, it was a big month for Flybridge where we formed our first distribution partnership with LCM Partners, who is a leading European Private Credit manager who has been in business for over 25ys and led by an entrepreneurial individual Paul Burdell. We look forward in talking to the Australian market on their main strategies in Opportunistic private credit and Asset Backed Lending.
The pipeline of managers in discussion is looking healthy and we look forward in closing another partnership soon. As much as you like to set goals and deadlines, as we all know relationships come first in this business and those can take time to develop.
It is a delight to seek out numerous different opportunities within the credit and other private markets especially with some of the niche unique opportunities that exist which will become more common and spoken about in the years to come.
I look forward in sharing these opportunities in the future.
